Executive Director – mental health

Psychologists, LCSWs, and LMFTs are encouraged to consider an available Executive Director position with Liberty Healthcare.

Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit which serves adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness.

The unit is located onsite at the Maguire Correctional Facility - a San Mateo County jail in Redwood City, CA.

The unit admits and treats patients who are under the conditions of an involuntary civil commitment and provides individualized assessment and treatment interventions that aim to achieve psychiatric stability as soon as clinically appropriate. Services are trauma-informed and rooted in the recovery model.

As Executive Director, you will provide executive leadership for the program and ensure all patients receive high quality behavioral health services.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Direct and indirect supervision of the program’s clinical professional and ancillary staff (approximately 16 FTEs)

• Oversight of behavioral health services and daily observation of all patients

• Participating in court and capacity hearings for patients

• Leading quality assurance / management / improvement initiatives

• Liaising with stakeholders with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and Correctional Health Services

• Human resources, staffing, payroll, and financial activities

• Keeping abreast of best practices in the mental health field – and applying to staff training and education

• Health outcome data analysis and reporting

• Maintaining a high-performance culture and fostering diversity equity and inclusion

As a full-time employee of Liberty Healthcare in this role, you can expect:

• Starting salary between $150,000 and $195,000 (depending on degree, experience, and other qualifications)

You are a good fit for this position if you are licensed professionally in California as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and have experience managing services which support people who are justice involved and experiencing acute mental illness.
