Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit which serves adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness.
The unit is located onsite at the Maguire Correctional Facility - a San Mateo County jail located in Redwood City, CA.
The unit admits and treats patients who are under the conditions of an involuntary civil commitment and provides individualized assessment and treatment interventions aimed at achieving psychiatric stability as soon as clinically appropriate. Services are trauma-informed and rooted in the recovery model.
As a Mental Health Worker with Liberty Healthcare, you will fulfill a vital role and be responsible for:
- Establishing and maintaining positive therapeutic relationships with patients
- Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups
- Monitoring patient activity and behavior
- Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu
- Safely addressing, deescalating and managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate interventions and techniques
- Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Mental Health Clinicians, Registered Nurses and other Mental Health Workers
- Documenting therapeutic interventions, observations, treatment progress, and other patient developments in medical records
In this role you will work alongside an experienced team of clinicians. You'll receive both structured training and hands-on learning opportunities, gaining practical skills that strengthen your expertise in mental health care. Most importantly, your work will have a direct impact on the lives of individuals who are experiencing mental illness.
As a part-time / PRN employee you will work on an as needed basis and be paid $30.00 per hour.
Work opportunities become available weekdays and weekends across the following three shifts:
