Position Summary:
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position plays a key role in the upkeep and functionality of facilities, responds to service requests, and acts as a liaison with contracted service providers. The Maintenance Specialist also participates in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency maintenance services and provides transportation support as needed.
Objectives:
- Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all facility systems and equipment.
- Maintaining a clean, functional, and secure environment for staff and clients.
- Minimizing downtime through proactive inspections and timely repairs.
- Supporting compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.
- Contributing to a positive and professional workplace through reliable service and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
- Assist with facility upgrades, renovations, and special projects.
- Monitor inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in general maintenance, facility repair, or related field.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, tools, and repair techniques.
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
Work Environment:
This position has frequent exposure to varying weather, dust, noise, and potentially hazardous equipment. Must be available for evening, weekend, or holiday emergencies as part of a shared on-call schedule. The role may require lifting of supplies, local travel for service calls, and flexibility in scheduling based on Center needs. This position requires in-person work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
In-Service Training & Continued Education Requirements:
- Participate in all required agency in-service and ADMH trainings
- Commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health.
- Completion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor.
Transportation Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license with personal liability insurance.
- Follow all agency transportation policies, including seatbelt usage, safe cellphone practices, and vehicle documentation.
- Immediately report any vehicle issues, accidents, or violations to appropriate personnel.
