Sales and Marketing Director
Executive Leadership | Reports to CEO | Albany or Portland, OR / Seattle, WA
THE OPPORTUNITY
Concept Systems Inc. is a recognized leader in automation and controls integration, providing industrial control system design, integration, and support services to clients across a diverse range of industries. With a reputation built on technical excellence and long-term client partnerships, Concept is entering its next phase of strategic growth.
We are seeking a Sales and Marketing Director to join our Executive Team and take ownership of Concept’s full sales lifecycle — from market strategy and brand positioning through pipeline development and deal closure, while interfacing directly with our Applications Engineering team on pursuit strategy and pricing. This is not a caretaker role. We’re looking for a builder: someone who can develop and scale a high-performing sales organization, open new markets, and inspire the kind of disciplined, sustainable growth that defines industry-leading systems integrators.
This role reports directly to the CEO and carries significant influence on company direction, investment priorities, and strategic planning.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
• Sales strategy and execution: Develop and drive a 12-month rolling sales and marketing plan aligned with corporate strategic objectives, with full accountability for targets, margin performance, and growth KPIs.
• Team leadership: Build, coach, and lead a team of Sales Engineers, Account Managers, and Marketing professionals. Establish clear performance expectations, career development paths, and a culture of commitment.
• Market development: Identify and pursue new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and client segments that expand Concept’s addressable market in the automation and controls integration space.
• Client engagement: Personally engage in senior-level relationships at key accounts. Lead pursuit strategy on high-value opportunities, interfacing directly with the Applications Engineering department on risk assessment, pricing, and margin decisions.
• Go-to-market operations: Own the sales and marketing technology stack, processes, and reporting infrastructure. Drive CRM adoption, pipeline visibility, and forecast accuracy across the organization.
• Executive partnership: Serve as a key member of the Executive Team, contributing to company-wide strategic planning, resource allocation, and operational decisions beyond the sales function.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In the first 12 months:
• You’ve assessed the current sales organization, identified gaps, and made the hires and structural changes needed to compete at the next level.
• A clear, data-driven sales and marketing plan is in place with measurable KPIs, and the team is executing against it.
• Pipeline coverage, forecast accuracy, and win rates are trending in the right direction with clear visibility to the Executive Team.
• Key client relationships have been strengthened, and at least one new strategic market or partnership has been identified and is in active development.
• Effective cross-functional working relationships are established, particularly with Applications Engineering, Operations, and Execution departments.
By year three:
• Concept’s sales organization operates as a scalable, repeatable engine with well-defined processes, strong CRM discipline, and a bench of developing talent.
• The company has meaningfully expanded its market presence, in our market, geographically, and through strategic partnership.
• You’re recognized across the organization and by clients as a trusted executive leader and key architect of the company’s market trajectory.
