Avania are hiring – Clinical Operations Manager
Compensation
The salary range offered for the Clinical Operations Manager role is $150,000-$165,000, with a 10% bonus, depending on your level of experience
The opportunity
At Avania, you'll lead and develop a team of clinical research associates (CRAs) while helping shape how Clinical Operations works as the company grows. This is a hands-on management role: you'll spot risks early, support people before problems escalate, and bring ideas for improving the department. The team is doing substantial work to evolve its practices, and you'll have a voice in that work rather than simply maintaining an established process.
What you'll do
- Hold regular one-on-ones, support CRAs' goals and development, and help team members work through challenges in their studies.
- Review performance and quality measures, identify emerging trends and their causes, and act before they become escalations. That might mean noticing a change in time on site, report compliance or the time it takes to submit a draft report.
- Bring together information from project-level sources, including Smartsheet, Power BI and the clinical trial management system (CTMS), to understand how the team is doing; no single view tells the whole story today.
- Work with the clinical quality excellence manager to address quality risks and identify where training or other support would help.
- Contribute to CRA and departmental all-hands discussions, including topics that build skills and improve how the team works.
- Support hiring and onboarding as the team grows.

What you'll bring
- A working understanding of the CRA role and clinical research operations, with the judgment to recognize when a metric signals a risk and investigate what is behind it.
- Examples of leading others, solving problems independently and helping colleagues develop. You might have managed CRAs already, or developed these skills as a senior CRA or clinical lead; prior line-management experience is not required.
- The ability to combine information from different systems and turn it into practical support for people, not just a report on their performance.
- A willingness to take responsibility for your team's success, have direct, empathetic conversations and work alongside someone who needs help.
Experience with Smartsheet would be helpful, but it is not a requirement.
