Maialino is seeking Culinary Externs to join the team!
Maialino welcomes a select group of ambitious culinary externs to add their unique background to our restaurant story. We teach our externs to build upon the skills they've already acquired from culinary school and prior work experiences. Each day our externs are actively involved with chefs who are focused and creative teachers. We have developed a strong community that is clear extension of the Maialino lineage. Our goal is to prepare students to join the best kitchens in the world.
A Culinary Extern at Maialino will be exposed to the following:
- Receive/label/store market deliveries
- Hone basic knife skills
- Kitchen Cleaning/ Sanitation
- Assist cooks in preparing components for their stations
- Learn to set-up a station independently
- A rotation in the Maialino Kitchen
- And much more!
- Based on culinary school requirements and/or availability
Maialino is a Roman-style trattoria inspired by the rustic cuisine of the Eternal City. Overlooking Gramercy Park, Maialino captures the warmth and comfort of a true neighborhood trattoria, reimagined for its contemporary setting. Executive Chef Matt Spivey’s thoughtful Italian cuisine blends the rich cultures of both New York City and Rome. Sourced from its local family of farmers and suppliers, Maialino integrates quality, seasonal ingredients throughout the menu, including Executive Pastry Chef Geoffrey Koo’s beautiful, rustic desserts. The restaurant is open continuously throughout the day, serving breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, dinner, and late night, as well as to-go coffee and pastries.
