Job Description

 Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few! 


An integral member of the USHG leadership, this position must lead, inspire and embody our Family Values and our philosophy of Enlightened Hospitality in all interactions with our people, guests, vendors and the community. Located in the Redbury Hotel, Marta features an energetic open kitchen with two wood-burning ovens and an open-fire grill taking center stage. The kitchen creates fresh takes on classic pizza standbys as well as original inventions showcasing seasonal and local ingredients. Marta exudes warmth and communal energy and serves as a central gathering place for its community. Working in the building also offers access to Caffe Marchio and Vini e Fritti, the newest restaurants on the 30th Street side of The Redbury New York Hotel from the team behind Marta. These spaces round out the property’s loving salute to Roman eateries, and offer a transporting taste of the eternal city, from morning to night.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed budget expectations through controlling of P&L items
  • Increase productivity and foster positive inter-departmental communications
  • Continually enhance, refine and update our culinary programming to maintain our standing as an industry leader
  • Strengthen the relationship between the team and our community 
  • Continuously build a high performance team
  • Ensure rigorous knowledge of and adherence to all applicable laws, policies and procedures

  • 5+ years of running a successful fine dining restaurant 
  • Proficient knowledge of systems and processes in food cost management
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Ability to lead and empower a team
  • English fluency and Spanish preferred
