Purpose:
The primary purpose of your job is to assist the Therapeutic Activities team in providing an ongoing program of therapeutic activities that meet the needs of the individual resident.
The pay for this role is $19/hr
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative/Activities
1. Complete documentation as necessary per regulation requirements.
2. Reports all accidents and incidents ASAP and notifies proper disciplines of
occurrence.
3. Reports all changes in resident condition to nurse during any activity.
4. Assists with recreation and activity programs for residents, family
members and staff in a timely manner.
5. Participates in planning, implementing and completion of programs.
6. Works alone to complete activity/program if necessary.
7. Assist in publicizing programs, engaging speakers or performers.
8. Assist with all aspects of the newsletter.
Personnel Functions
1. Performs all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and
procedures.
2. Follows all work assignments/schedules in completing and performing
assigned tasks.
3. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, positive emphasis.
4. Reports all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
5. Notifies the Director or Asst. Director when you will be late or absent
from work.
6. Follows the code of ethics and conduct in accordance to The Methodist Home
of DC.
7. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials.
8. Reports all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
Staff Development
1. Attends and participates in scheduled in-services and educational classes.
2. Follows Universal Precautions to encourage infection control.
3. Follows all safety precautions in performing duties.
4. Reports all safety violations to appropriate disciplines.
Resident Rights
1. Maintains confidentiality in accordance to The Methodist Home of DC's notice of
Privacy Practice and follows HIPAA guidelines.
2. Treats residents with dignity and respect at all times
3. Reports allegations of resident abuse and or theft to proper discipline.
4. Honor refusal to participate in activity or outing.
Job Qualifications:
1. Experience in Activities or Recreation.
2. Read, write, and speak the English language.
3. Ability to relate information concerning the resident.
4. Must possess patience and have an understanding of conditions related to
infirmities of the aging and or diagnosis.
5. Must possess excellent communication skills.
6. Must be organized.
7. Must be flexible, working irregular hours when necessary.
