St. John's Episcopal Hospital is recruiting for  the following position:

Position: Patient Care Technician

Department: Nursing

Status: Full Time  & Part Time positions available

Union ( 1199)

 

Summary:

The PCT  performs a variety of technical, para-professional,rehabilitative or therapeutic function related to direct patient care; identify patient needs and provide clinical intervention. They perform procedural and diagnostic preps; performs vital signs, including blood pressure, phlebotomy, venipunture, EKG's etc.

 

 

Skills & Requirements

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides assistance to patients with activities of daily living, including, but not limited to bathing, shaving and mouth care
  • Responds to patient's call bell promptly and in a professional manner
  • Measures patient safety by ensuring proper placement of call light, side rails (as needed) monitoring of patients in restraints
  • Takes and records patients' pulse, temperature, blood pressure etc.
  • Records measurement accurately and reports deviations from normal to Patient Care Coordinator
  • Prepares patient/equipment for procedure, and assists physician as requested
  • Greets all  new admissions to the team upon arrival in room
  • Introduces and identifies self to patient and family immediately upon presentation
  • Ensures that patient and family have been oriented to Care Center.

 

  • High School Diploma required
  • N.Y.S. Nurse Aide Certification required
  • PCT, Phlebotomy and EKG certifications  from National HealthCareer Association are required. Previous Nursing Attendant or PCT experience required.
