Octo Consulting Group is seeking an ETL Developer to join our growing team in support of a Federal customer. As an ETL Developer, you'll be part of an agile team dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation. You will participate in detailed technical design, development and implementation of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. You'll have the opportunity to mentor other engineers and develop your technical knowledge and skills to keep your mind and our business on the cutting edge of technology.


  • Design and develop enhancements to software applications on an Informatica Metadata Manager Product Expertise and Perform Data Modeling
  • Work with business SMEs and identified project stakeholders to develop requirements (functional/non-functional/operational/data quality)
  • Perform data profiling, data analysis, setup mock data for development/unit testing
  • Create ETL functional specifications that document source to target data mappings
  • Analyze new and existing data sources; and, develop ETL requirements for extracting, transforming and loading data
  • Coordinate and collaborate with end users and business analysts in identifying, developing and validating ETL requirements
  • Perform basic DBA functions as needed in the Development and System Test environments in support of Enterprise Data Development process and Configuration Management practices
  • Troubleshoot, monitor and coordinate defect resolution related to ETL processing; Responsible for support of all existing ETL processes across various data assets
  • Deliver enterprise data analytics, database management, and data development work for a federal agency to increase the ability to provide quantitative reports and analytical solutions
  • Perform and document procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, transformation and analysis
  • Provide daily monitoring, management, troubleshooting and issue resolution to existing and new data solutions and systems' interfaces affected by them
  • Prepare and maintain database documentation and standards; develop and maintain technical and analytical documentation
Skills & Requirements
  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience
  • Three years of experience supporting data integration, data governance, data life cycle management, data quality, and data strategy
  • Experience with developing, tuning and debugging code, stored procedures, functions and packages
  • Two years of experience working with Master Data Management and Metadata Management tools including Informatica, Talend, and other data management systems
  • Experience documenting ETL mappings and good written skills
  • Experience with complex SQL and high-volume Relational databases and SQL Query performance tuning
  • Experience with Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) and Informatica PowerCenter;
  • Proficient with data warehousing principles, relational database management systems, and data modeling (logical and physical),
  • Experience operating in traditional and agile project models
  • Effective communicator, collaborator, influencer, solution seeker across variety of opinions
  • Self-starter, well organized, extremely detail-oriented and an assertive team player, willing to take ownership of responsibilities, and possess a high level of positive energy and drive
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work well under pressure and effectively handle concurrent demands to prioritize responsibilities


  • On-site meetings, supports and operations shall be performed at 10903 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20993. Otherwise work will be performed in Alexandria, VA

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. US citizenship is mandatory, per contract clearance requirements. Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
