Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Information / Data Architect to join our growing team in support of a Federal customer. As a Senior Information / Data Architect you'll be part of a team dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation.


  • Lead regulatory science initiatives and business development activities for CDISC and HL7 data standards in the FDA and other health markets.
  • Apply data standards expertise and domain knowledge to assist regulatory agency clients with standards requirements gathering, data validation, data and metadata analyses, tools assessment and development, and regulatory reviewer support and training.
  • Collaborate with the government and vendor partners to support to the implementation of a COTS Tool and transition to the eCTD 4.0 standard, and provide recommendations to support regulatory compliance around data including, CDISC and HL7.
  • Contribute to the development of other regulatory science capabilities and projects, including health programmatic evaluation and analytics.
  • Work with business, process teams, and leaders, to understand their business information requirements and to classify, organize, make available and govern the data needed to meet those requirements
  • Support the development of integrated data models and artifacts identifying as-is, planned, and to-be mission data and supporting metadata.
  • Facilitate data modeling sessions, ranging from information gathering to model validation.
  • Data modeling, including reverse and forward engineering.
  • Analyze functional and nonfunctional business requirements and translate into technical data requirements and create or update existing logical and physical data models.
  • Provide technical advice and prepare technical documentation on data architecture related trends, issues, and tools and provide input into the agency wide data architecture standards.
Skills & Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Data modeling, including reverse and forward engineering.
  • Knowledge of database design principles
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with information architecture concepts (Common Information Model/Canonical Data Model, Enterprise Information Management, Metadata Management, Data Governance, and Master Data Management).
  • Experience with data modeling, data mapping, data profiling, and data quality
  • Self-starter, well organized, extremely detail-oriented and an assertive team player, willing to take ownership of responsibilities, and possess a high level of positive energy and drive
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work well under pressure and effectively handle concurrent demands to prioritize responsibilities
  • Experience operating in traditional and agile project models
  • Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements
  • Experience with clinical and non-clinical data including:
  • CDISC Standard for Exchange of Non-Clinical Data (SEND) for non-clinical study
  • CDISC Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) for clinical data
  • CDISC Analysis Data Model (ADaM) for analysis of clinical data
  • CDISC Case Report Tabulation Data Definition Specification


  • On-site meetings, supports and operations shall be performed at 10903 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20993. Otherwise work will be performed in Alexandria, VA

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates.Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
