Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Business Analyst to join our growing team.  As a Business Analyst, you will work closely with customers to understand business needs and translate them into requirements for the development team to implement. You will also support testing, documentation and training efforts through the development lifecycle.


  • Create and groom backlog of user stories in an agile development environment
  • Support testing of solutions against the requirements
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and planning sessions with customers
  • Formal requirements gathering and documenting specifications
  • Document meeting minutes
  • Develop training documentation
  • Provide training to customers
  • Demo solutions to customers
  • Develop user interface mockups
  • Excellent communication, time management and problem resolution skills
  • Complete assignments according to the established deadlines.
  • Balance priorities and work load across multiple projects and multiple developers as needed
  • Provide accurate estimates of effort required to complete assignments.
  • Coordinate and support Agile Scrum activities as needed (e.g. sprint planning, daily scrum, task estimation, and retrospectives) to address backlog items including new user stories as well as defects within application product backlogs.
  • Work with developers and the customer to understand functional and technical requirements
  • Participate in solution design and concept visualization, create user interface mockups, prototypes and demo solutions to stakeholders
  • Create documentation including design documents, standard operating procedures, system and maintenance documentation, and assist with training documentation.
  • Test software solutions
  • Support out of the box SharePoint changes
  • Assist with permissioning of sites
  • Prepare and document user guides and related documentation
Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years business analysis in an agile development environment
  • Minimum three (3) years supporting requirements and design of custom and out of the box SharePoint Solutions
  • Minimum of five (3) years of SharePoint experience
  • Knowledge of Out of the Box features such as creating subsites, document management, forms, workflows, etc.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of SharePoint design best practices

Other desired skills:

  • Knowledge of infrastructure, architecture, and administration services related to SharePoint
  • Perform  analysis and make recommendation regarding reporting and dash board capabilities
  • Experience with SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error free deliverables.
  • Must be motivated, independent and self-sufficient
  • Able to receive an assigned task and see it through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Must be well organized, a good communicator, able to effectively prioritize tasks, and manage your projects from concept to production
  • Must be able to write thorough and concise functional and design specifications as well as easily readable end user documentation
  • Must be well able to brainstorm with others, thrive in a collaborative team environment, multi-task, and quickly adapt to change
  • Possess leadership skills and ability to be led in a manner that is healthy for our positive and productive work environment

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree

Clearance: Secret or Top Secret preferred

Location & Hours:  Onsite in Washington, DC during core business hours.
