Octo is currently seeking an Enterprise Architect to join a growing team on an exciting and highly visible Operations & Maintenance project for a DoD customer.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the architectural design and solution development for the client cloud infrastructure hosting model and will help migrate enterprise finance web applications to a cloud hosting solution.
  • Perform all requisite actions required to host the Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) including existing versions of client applications in a cloud computing environment.
  • Identify dependencies, issues, impacts, and risks associated with architecture, design, and development projects on existing and external systems.
  • Review, update, create, and maintain Department of Defense Architecture Framework artifacts.
  • Provide consultation and strategic guidance to senior staff to help shape IT strategy.
  • Develop and maintain key agency Enterprise Architecture (EA) products, including current EA, target EA, enterprise transition plan, enterprise standards profile, EA technical guidance, design patterns, and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop, select, and tailor appropriate EA methodologies, frameworks, and approaches to address client objectives and drive the EA toward business results.
  • Model and analyze enterprise business, applications, and technology environments.
  • Facilitate stakeholder work sessions focused on making Enterprise-wide decisions that balance and prioritize the competing interests of individual stakeholder groups.
  • Provide guidance to client EA leads in improving the impact and usefulness of EA products, leveraging the EA to inform enterprise decision making and integrating the EA into broader enterprise planning and governance processes.
  • Work as a technical enterprise architect under general direction, assisting with developing business, technical, and functional processes and requirements.
  • Build and maintain specific DoD Architecture Framework models and views in accordance with DoD EA guidance.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with stakeholders, foster excellent working relationships with functionals, business owners, and system owners and overcome communication challenges and barriers with clients successfully to complete architecture tasks.
  • Assess and adapt operational, system, data, services, and capabilities architecture views to meet program objectives.
  • Apply architectural best practices and sound methodologies to support capabilities analysis and business process re-engineering.
  • Prepare and deliver planning tools and presentations to communicate architecture practices, project schedules, resource requirements, and program status.

Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Master's degree a plus.
  • Provide deep technological understanding of cloud infrastructures, capabilities and security models, and architect cloud-hosted solutions and integrations.
  • Extensive experience as a systems administrator, systems designer, and systems architect in one or more complex enterprise environments, with a strong focus on public cloud based platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Demonstrated experience defining engineering approaches for various cloud initiatives.
  • Certified AWS Solutions Architect.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Experience creating and managing security groups for cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in the design and configuration of enterprise web applications in the cloud.
  • 7+ years’ experience working with cloud service providers.
  • 7+ years’ experience in and knowledge of database development and administration with Oracle, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration techniques
  • All hosting related services & activities
  • 7+ years of experience with the DoD field
  • 7 years of experience with systems analysis and design, requirements engineering, or BPMN
  • 7 years of experience with enterprise architecture using standard frameworks, including DoDAF
  • Experience with presenting, briefing, or communicating analytical material
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel


  • Knowledge of industry accepted standards and best practices related to strategic planning and portfolio management.
  • Ability to interact and network with all levels of staff effectively, including internal staff and senior leadership at the client site.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
