Job Description

2. GENERAL JOB SUMMARY (1 or 2 paragraphs describing the primary goal or function of this position)

The Business Analyst will analyse process problems, issues, and change requests as reported by the business. The Business Analyst will provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements to solve these issues. The Business Analyst will document requirements and gain approval for changes as required to meet business needs. The Business Analyst will work with the development and QA teams to ensure they have a full understanding of requested changes. The business analyst will review implemented changes to ensure they meet the requirements.

Knowledge: Learns to use professional concepts. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

Complexity: Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analysing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally.

Supervision: Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.


Skills & Requirements

5. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

  1. Defines and documents customer business functions and process needs.
  2. Works with the business to document future business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, and change requests.
  3. Analyses the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users.
  4. Tracks and fully documents changes for functional and business specifications; writes detailed requirements documents that can be understood by the business, developers, and the QA team.
  5. Understands and adheres to the Business System Request Process.
  6. Take direction from Senior BA team member on implementing process improvements

Typically requires no previous professional experience. Typical range of experience is 0-2 years.

 

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the software business and Aptean’s internal processes
  • Basic understanding of BA methodologies Strong understanding of business systems and processes
  • Basic understanding of Agile methodology
  • Basic understanding and experience of business/systems analysis skills, techniques and practices
  • Ability to develop detailed Use cases and system design documents.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, initiative and decision making skills; strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills
