The Work You’ll Do:

The Counsel, Europe position is primarily responsible for legal support of Sovos’ European business units, providing commercial law support and advice, negotiating and processing client, partner and vendor agreements.

• Negotiates contracts between Sovos and its European clients, including DPAs
• Maintains, develops and updates contract templates as needed
• Assists in developing and maintaining EU privacy policies and procedures
• Negotiates vendor/supplier agreements
• Maintains document files and coordinating all contracting process flow with respect to clients and vendors
• Reviews the work of local legal assistant and provides guidance as necessary
• Supports corporate legal efforts in Europe including entity organization and governance matters
• Supports employment legal efforts in Europe including employment contracts, employee data privacy, performance management, background checks, immigration, and more
• Contributes to the development and implementation of company policies in Europe.
• Works autonomously and independently in furtherance of the legal function
• Takes full responsibility for ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction
• Comprehends and communicates complex concepts

What We Need From You:

• Law degree required
• Duly licensed to practice law
• 3+ years of technology contracting experience
• Solid understanding of applicable contract law and related issues including GDPR
• Proven negotiating skills
• Solid understanding of software and SaaS licensing practices including related contractual terms
• Ability to concentrate, analyze, and resolve complex problems 
• Utilize technology (e.g. phone systems, computer hardware and software applications) to fulfill work requirements
• Demonstrates initiative, drive and determination to achieve results, success and growth
• Maintains a high level of enthusiasm, engagement, and commitment to action
• Develops trust and models open, candid, respectful communication and collaborative teamwork
