The Work You'll Do:
As a Senior Business Development Representative at Sovos, you'll be a driving force in building market demand for our industry-leading tax compliance solutions. This role combines strategic prospecting with mentorship—you'll not only achieve your own pipeline and revenue goals but also help elevate the entire BDR team through leadership and coaching.
You'll partner directly with Sales Executives to identify opportunities, execute territory plans, and connect businesses with solutions that solve real compliance challenges. This is an ideal next step for a high-performing BDR ready to take on greater responsibility and make a broader impact.
More specifically, you will:
- Build market demand through strategic networking, sales prospecting, and marketing campaign follow-up
- Achieve pipeline creation and revenue quotas while ensuring team achievement of telemarketing objectives
- Partner with Sales Executives to identify and execute territory plans that drive results
- Independently introduce and market Sovos solutions to customers and prospects, educating organizations on how we solve complex compliance challenges
- Execute a formalized telemarketing and selling process with discipline and creativity
- Develop and deliver regular forecasts of revenue goals and telemarketing objectives
- Mentor new BDRs during their training period, sharing best practices and accelerating their success
- Represent the BDR team on Marketing department and cross-functional projects
- Identify and implement improvements to telemarketing strategies, processes, documents, and tools that benefit internal teams and external prospects
- Work directly with customers to assist with implementation of Sovos products and services
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance prospecting efficiency and customer engagement
- Maintain energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to achieving results and continuous growth
What We Need From You
- Minimum of 12 months as a successful Business Development Representative or equivalent experience with demonstrated excellence
- Proven history of achieving and exceeding monthly BDR quotas for dials, appointments, and opportunities
- Evidence of leadership beyond normal job expectations, such as mentoring new team members or representing the team on cross-functional projects
- 2+ years of software industry experience; SaaS experience a plus
- Ability to autonomously manage multiple sales opportunities concurrently and actively develop pipeline
- General understanding of business, financial systems, and organizational decision-making
- Ability to engage effectively with mid-level and executive contacts at client organizations
- Proficiency with CRM solutions (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office suite
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly in conversation
- Assertive and persistent approach balanced with professionalism
- Strong communication skills and commitment to personal development and growth
- Experience with or enthusiasm for AI-powered sales tools and emerging technologies
