THE OPPORTUNITY
Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese multinationals are expanding internationally at pace — and running headfirst into compliance obligations their domestic finance teams are not built to handle. The moment a manufacturer in Shenzhen opens a subsidiary in Germany, a brand in Seoul enters Brazil, or a tech company in Taipei begins selling into France, they are immediately subject to e-invoicing mandates, VAT reporting, and indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
That compliance burden is unavoidable, non-negotiable, and growing. Sovos is the platform that solves it — a single, always-on compliance layer trusted by more than 100,000 businesses across 100 countries, including half the Fortune 500. This role targets that exact problem at the source: APAC-headquartered multinationals at the point of international expansion.
Alongside the Greater China, Korea, and Taiwan new-logo motion, this role also covers Southeast Asian markets including Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam — a region where e-invoicing mandates are accelerating rapidly (Malaysia live 2024, Vietnam CTC live, Philippines and Thailand in rollout) and where both domestic and foreign-invested multinationals face the same cross-border compliance challenge.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Hunt net-new logo opportunities across Greater China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam — targeting multinationals whose international operations are creating immediate, non-negotiable compliance obligations in the EU, LATAM, Saudi Arabia, and beyond
• Own the full new-logo sales cycle end to end: prospecting, executive engagement, solution scoping, commercial negotiation, and close
• Build and maintain C-suite relationships — CFO, Head of Tax, CIO — navigating the distinct buying structures of Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese, and Southeast Asian enterprise organizations
• Develop account-based territory plans, working with BDR, pre-sales, and alliance partners to build and progress pipeline across two distinct buyer clusters: North Asia multinationals expanding outbound, and Southeast Asian businesses managing domestic and cross-border mandates
• Partner with regional SIs and Big4 firms who are already embedded in your target accounts to co-sell and accelerate deal cycles
• Leverage AI-powered tools for account research, pipeline management, and engagement tracking
• Maintain accurate Salesforce pipeline hygiene and deliver reliable quarterly forecasts to sales leadership
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Language: Mandarin fluency (spoken and written) — mandatory
Location: Kuala Lumpur-based; willingness to travel across Greater China, Korea, and Southeast Asia
Experience: 7+ years of enterprise SaaS or technology sales to large multinational organizations
• Demonstrated track record of new-logo hunting in Chinese, Korean, or Taiwanese enterprise markets — you understand how buying decisions get made, who the real stakeholders are, and how to build trust across cultures and time zones
• Familiarity with Southeast Asian enterprise markets, particularly Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam — experience selling into these markets alongside a North Asia focus is a strong advantage
• Experience selling into or alongside ERP ecosystems (SAP, Oracle, Kingdee, or equivalent); comfortable navigating deals where Finance, Tax, and IT are all involved in the buying decision
• Working knowledge of indirect tax, VAT, e-invoicing, or regulatory compliance as a category — you do not need to be a tax expert, but you must be able to hold a credible conversation with a CFO or Head of Tax about multi-jurisdiction compliance risk
• Strong commercial instincts: ability to qualify fast, manage complex multi-stakeholder cycles, and close without losing momentum
• Comfortable building pipeline in markets where Sovos has limited brand recognition — this is a market-building role requiring consultative credibility, not inbound volume
WHY THIS ROLE
• You are selling into mandate-driven urgency — regulatory deadlines in Germany, France, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Vietnam create buying pressure that no amount of marketing can manufacture
• The ICP is proven: Greater China-origin accounts drove the majority of APAC new-logo revenue in FY26, with BYD, Techtronic, Mindray, and LEDVANCE among the wins — the playbook exists, you are scaling it
• Malaysia’s own e-invoicing mandate (live 2024) and the accelerating Southeast Asia regulatory wave give you local market urgency alongside the North Asia outbound motion
• BDR support and alliance investment are being built around this territory — you will not be prospecting alone
• Sovos is the only platform built specifically for always-on global compliance at scale, trusted across 100 countries — you carry a category-leading product into an underpenetrated market
