Maintenance Mechanic III - 1st Shift

Starting Rate: DOE

Based at our Chaska, MN location, you will provide skilled maintenance and preventive maintenance for all the food processing equipment in the plant.  Must be able to work with various shop tools, including drill press, welder, saw, etc. in a safe manner. Can perform electrical, welding, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic tasks on production equipment and acts as an advisor for all ammonia refrigeration and boiler issues.

Duties Include:

  • Has working knowledge of electrical, motor controls, main distribution, process control wiring and components.
  • Trouble shoot, maintain, and repair all production equipment.
  • Complete building repairs as necessary.
  • Responsible for monitoring and following all food safety and quality procedures.
  • Responsible for following security protocols and reporting any suspicious activity and/or security violations.
  • Maintain records of all repairs and preventive maintenance performed and cost associated with each piece of equipment. 
  • Work daily on priority tasks as assigned.
  • Help with the installation of new equipment as needed. 
  • Assist with training other department personnel. 
  • Responsible for adhering to Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Occasionally reach above shoulder/ below knee level
  • Lift/ Carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Push up to 400 lbs. on wheels.
  • Must be able to work in a -10 to 100 degree areas for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to handle/touch frozen product.
  • Vertical climbing.
  • Occasionally working 25 feet above ground level.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and find help when task is beyond mechanic's skill level.
  • Must be able to consistently produce accurate and professional-quality work.
  • Must be able to approach a problem and systematically develop and test solutions.
  • Must have a strong maintenance background with a degree or certification in maintenance.
  • Must have a Special Class Boiler License or be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in industrial refrigeration systems preferred.
