It's a great time to join JRC! Our Systems Engineering & Integration team in Crane, IN is currently seeking an experienced a talented Mechanical Engineer to provide technical engineering planning and research-based services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). In this critical position will work closely with NSWC Crane program management leaders and technical subject matter experts and subcontractors.  

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will...

  • Develop facility and test requirements, integration strategies, policies, and products for DoD programs 
  • Perform research and studies with regard to construction of industrial or radiation facilities 

  • Capture requirements and develop documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental and radiation regulations, permitting, and radiation testing of electronics 

  • Perform requirements analysis and assessment of concept designs 

  • Perform and document trade studies and analysis of alternatives  

  • Develop business case with assessments and recommendations for DoD test facilities 

  • Identify and develop capabilities to conduct system, subsystem, or component performance and effectiveness testing  

  • Research Advanced Technologies and develop strategies for performing radiation effects analysis and testing 

  • Develop Test Capability Documents, identify key performance parameters, use cases, and potential courses of action 

  • Provide technical input into an implementation plan providing DoD radiation effects test capabilities 

  • Provide overall systems engineering and technical project management 

  • Collect and develop program status and metrics updates for senior leader and external program reporting 

  • Develop, maintain, issue and track program priorities including agenda, minutes and action items as required 

  • Coordinate with program stakeholders including other customer contractors/partners 

    Develop and review documentation and supporting material for technical accuracy including robust Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint files 

  • Format specifications, directives, and correspondence in accordance with Navy manual  

What you bring to the table...

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent years of experience 
  • 10+ years of related professional experience 
  • An active government security clearance at the SECRET level or above or have recently held a clearance within the past 2 years and remain in favorable status
  • Able to analyze processes and implement improvement strategies 
  • Experience as a technical liaison between corporate, representative contractors, and the DOD senior staff 
  • Able to work independently and within team environment with little direction  
  • Flexibility to travel up to20%
