We are hiring a System Security Engineer (SSE) to support programmatic and acquisition guidance to program offices in the systems security engineering-related areas of Anti-Tamper (AT), Hardware Assurance (HwA), and cybersecurity of hardware. The position will be a direct interface to microelectronics lab assessment capabilities, and requires a deep understanding of supply chain assurance, hardware assurance, and security assessments. The position requires the ability to interface with program offices, guide assessment efforts, and instruct program offices how to better protect their systems.
As a System Security Engineer, you will...
- Collaborate with internal and external team members to ensure that cyber security requirements are properly defined, decomposed, allocated, implemented, and assessed to produce a cyber-resilient security design solution
- Communication – Formal Presentations, Written Documentation, Report and Briefing Preparations
- Coordinate and conduct a range of cyber risk analyses and security assessment methods
- Capture information on customer systems and operations, focusing on commercial hardware that is in use
- Utilize the information captured to assess the risk posture for the customer
- Develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) for implementing hardware assurance and supply chain risk management efforts that integrates with existing processes
- Identify and recommend high priority assessments or other efforts that should be conducted
- Recommend Courses of Action (COAs) to mitigate cyber risks, ordered by the combination of impact and cost
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences, technical and non-technical, and function effectively on an engineering team to create a collaborative environment that allows for the establishment of mission goals and itemized planning and prioritization of tasks to successfully meet the objectives
What you bring to the table...
- A bachelor's degree major in either Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Additional consideration will be given for a minor or focus in Cybersecurity, or a nationally recognized cybersecurity certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+ or GIAC/SANS certifications).
- 5+ years of experience in system development and/or acquisition
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. Please note that US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Knowledge and understanding of Systems Engineering
- Knowledge and understanding of Systems Security Engineering concepts
- Working familiarity with MS Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

- 10+ years of experience with DoD system acquisition
- Active Secret Clearance
- Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification
