Job Description

The role of Safety, Health and Environmental Manageris focused on continuous improvement of safety, support of the regulatory compliance and management systems with a focus on casualty and property risk control. Also,administer Employee Health and Safety management practices under the OSHA Act; administer the Employee Health, Safety and Environmental management practices under the ISO 14000 Standards. Duties •Responsible for organizing, implementing, administering and maintaining safety and health programs (OSHA, Industrial Hygiene, Injury and Illness Reporting); and ensuring regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as policies and procedures. •Determine priorities for safety, health and environmental liabilities in diverse work areas and make assignments accordingly. •Provide tools and standards required by facility management to insure compliance with safety and health reporting requirements to federal and stateagencies and Chassix. •Organize, develop and implement policies, procedures and programs to ensure that safety and health are maintained throughout the organization in a cohesive and unified manner. •Develop and implement safety and health programs in response to new regulatory requirements. •Ensure that supervisors, managers and plant personnel are trained to better execute their safety and health responsibilities. Develop reports and recommendations independently. Assist other employees in developing reports and recommendations. •Participate in interdisciplinary team to discuss multidisciplinary approaches to resolving safety & health issues. •Make recommendation with respect to equipment purchase, engineering controls,workspace planning and work process planning. •Provide leadership and direction to professional and technical staff and participate in the professional development of staff. •Administer and coordinate all plant safety and industrial hygiene activities. •Ensure compliance with all federal and state OSHA regulations. •Provide safety training (Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, personal protection equipment, respirator use, incident investigation, etc…) •Review and investigate accidents, injuries and illnesses that have occurred; determine root causes and interface with plant staff to ensure thatcorrective actions are completed. •Work with process managers to determine that proper safeguards and personal protective equipment requirements are included in the manufacturing process. •Provide input to engineers for development or improvement of engineering controls. •Contribute to the design of new facilities where hazardous materials will be used or hazardous processes will be located. •Regulatory research - keep current on OSHA, Community Right to Know, Federal and State regulations. •ISO 14000 - coordinate, administer and direct implementation of Chassix Employee Health and Safety management practices ISO 14000. •Regulatory Assistance - work with manufacturing and engineering to improve Chassix overall safety and health compliance programs.

Skills & Requirements

Education: B.S. in Industrial Safety and Health, Engineering or other related fields. Related Experience: 5-10 years in safety and health related functions and administration, preferably in manufacturing. Specialty Training: Working knowledge of Federal and State Safety and Health regulations; Certified Safety Professional registration considered a plus. Equipment/Software Skills: General knowledge of Word for Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint. AutoCAD, Visio and Visual Basic is considered to be a plus.
