Job Description

Maintenance Technician

Location: Howell, MI Plant

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

2nd Shift 2 pm - 10:30 pm M-F 

 

General Responsibilities

 As a member of the maintenance department, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairs of all plant equipment and production machinery including CNC machines, robotic automation cells, and plant support equipment. Must be self-motivated, have the ability to trouble shoot, diagnose, and resolve issues in a production machining environment. Candidate will also be expected to perform preventative/predictive maintenance and conform to all OSHA and Aludyne standards.

 

Job Tasks

•      Read schematics, ladder logic, and electrical drawings.

•      Locate and replace faulty electrical components / troubleshoot electrical problems

•      Ability to wire panels, run conduit and complete electrical projects

•      Possess knowledge of high voltage applications; ability to read voltage meters

•      Disassembly, repair and reassembly of all plant and production machinery

•      Replace ball screws, motors, drives, gearboxes, covers, pumps and spindles.

•      Perform, analyze, and interpret various types of test equipment

•      Work with production personnel to develop solutions to quality issues, as well as, continuous improvement projects

•      Trace wiring, isolate electrical components, and understand ladder logic.

•      Work with production personnel to develop solutions to quality issues, as well as, continuous improvement projects

•      Repair and troubleshoot industrial machinery including CNC machining centers, rotary dials, stand-alone machines, casting machines, finishing cells and assembly equipment

 

Knowledge / Skills

•      Working knowledge of machinery rigging, gearbox and spindle repair and must be able to read blueprints

•      Troubleshoot operator interface terminals, AC and DC servo systems, VFD’s, PLC’s, and power supplies

•      Maintain and repair facility equipment as directed by maintenance supervision

•      Lock out Tag Out procedures

•      Confined space entry and hot work permits

•      Operation of industrial equipment

•      Industrial safety guidelines

 

Qualifications

•      Associates degree in robotics technology, mechanical, electrical, or PLC programming preferred but not required

•      2-3 years’ experience with machining maintenance required

•      High School graduation or equivalent required

•      Operator Permit for Overhead Crane

•      Operator Permit for Aerial Lift

 

Working Conditions

•      Constant exposure to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.

•      Walking, crouching, climbing

•      Ability to lift 50+ lbs

•      Repetitive lifting of objects (under 5 lbs.)

•      Repetitive manual movements

•      Carrying pushing or pulling objects (under 5 lbs.)

•      Sustained visual concentration on small areas, such as monitors, screens or numbers, legal documents

•      Precise eye/hand coordination

 

Climate

Works in a fast paced environment under minimum supervision. Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment. Must always work with a high degree of accuracy.
