JOB GOAL/PURPOSE: 
 
Our ideal candidate is a self-starting, collaborative, and highly creative professional with a strong passion for digital storytelling and social media. This role is primarily responsible for leading the creation, management, and growth of ISB’s social media presence and digital content ecosystem.
 
The successful candidate will independently drive content ideation, production, and publishing across platforms, ensuring alignment with ISB’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities. While the role includes support for marketing materials, outreach initiatives, and school-wide communications, its core focus is developing compelling digital narratives that engage both internal and external audiences.
 
The person in this position will collaborate closely with Admissions, Alumni, HR, Communications, and Marketing, as well as faculty, students, and external partners, to surface and amplify meaningful stories from across the school community.
 
 
DUTIES/REPONSIBILITIES
 
Working closely with the Head of Communications & Marketing, this position is designed for a creative, collaborative, and proactive individual with a strong focus on social media leadership and digital content creation. The Social Media & Community Relations Specialist will lead ISB’s social media strategy and execution, driving content ideation, production, publishing, and performance analysis across platforms, while also supporting website content development and selected digital marketing initiatives. Although the role contributes to broader community engagement and event communications, its primary responsibility is to create compelling digital narratives that amplify the school’s brand, voice, and visibility across internal and external audiences.
 
KEY REPONSIBILITIES
 
1. Digital Marketing & Social Media (Primary Focus)
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with ISB’s strategic goals
  • Manage and grow ISB’s presence across platforms (WeChat, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Produce engaging content, including copywriting, photography, and video
  • Monitor analytics and generate reports to assess effectiveness and refine tactics
  • Stay informed of digital trends, tools, and platform updates
  • Collaborate with the Multimedia Communications Specialist to ensure visual consistency and quality
2. Website & Content Management
  • Maintain and update website content in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Ensure digital content aligns with ISB’s branding, tone, and UX/UI best practices
  • Support campaign landing page creation and optimization
3. Community Engagement & Events Support
  • Support planning and communications for school-wide events (e.g., staff events, cultural celebrations, guest visits)
  • Liaise with internal teams and vendors to ensure smooth coordination
  • Assist with promotional item design and procurement for events, alumni, and marketing initiatives
  • Manage and develop memberships and relationships with key strategic partners e.g., business chambers, associations, embassies and others
  • Other tasks as assigned
4. Brand & Collateral Development
  • Support creation of branded marketing collateral—brochures, newsletters, digital graphics
  • Maintain relationships with local and international partners, vendors, and creative service providers
  • Ensure consistency with ISB’s visual identity and tone across all outputs
5. Translation & Bilingual Communication (If applicable)
  • Provide high-quality written translations (EN<->CN) for marketing and community-facing materials
  • Ensure translated materials retain voice, clarity, and brand alignment

 

Skills & Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
  • Bachelor's degree with three to five years of work experience in publishing, graphics design, marketing communications or community relations experience
  • Experience of social media management 
  • Experience in editing websites and managing web development projects
  • Experience in creating and manipulating graphics and working with graphic designers
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Able to work to deadline
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and experiences
  • Demonstrated initiative, project management aptitude, and problem-solving skills
  • Mother tongue English or equivalent, with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities as well as strong reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar technology;
  • Understanding of UX/UI best practices;
  • Photography skills a plus
  • Ability to speak Mandarin a plus
  • College/University or independent/private schools experience is a plus; experience in community relations for a school or non-profit organization highly desirable
