POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the supervision and day-to-day coordination of the quality team, as well as supporting and continuously improving quality systems and lean manufacturing processes in a dynamic production environment. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and leads initiatives that improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a strong background in engineered metal products, process validation, and team supervision.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the facility and safety and wellness of all team members.
· Responsible to ensure process adherence to all applicable quality policies and procedures to assure quality product with and awareness of product safety.
· Communicate regularly with all members of the team to maintain a high level of morale.
· Supervise and support the quality team to ensure daily goals and quality standards are met
· Maintain and ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015/ AS9100 requirements
· Develop and implement process control plans, inspection instructions, and equipment validation protocols/
· Lead or support failure investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolution
· Utilize tools such as FMEA, DOE, CpK, GR&R, and root cause analysis to improve processes and reduce defects
· Coordinate and support internal audits, customer audits, and third party audits
· Maintain and manage quality records, audit documentation, and related reporting systems
· Monitor and manage nonconforming product, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation
· Track and analyze quality metrics, providing recommendations for continuous improvement
· Conduct training for team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, and lean tools
· Act as a point of contact for customer quality concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
· Lead or contribute to lean manufacturing projects and continuous improvement initiatives
· All other duties as assigned
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on quality engineering and team supervision. A background in engineered metal products, including tubing and machining in both high- and low-volume production, is highly preferred. Candidates should be experienced in failure/root cause analysis, ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 compliance, inspection planning, and corrective/preventive actions. Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma tools and experience driving measurable improvements in quality and throughput are also desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality
· Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 and quality systems.
· Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience in a related environment preferred.
· Experience supervising or leading small teams within a production or quality environment.
