Job Description

Senior Software Engineer - Professional Services 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer interfaces with Omnitracs customers and partners to develop integration between Omnitracs’ applications and customer back office applications and builds customized, state-of-the-art mobile user interface and front-end of Workflow product. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Requirements Gathering Process with internal and external customers
  • Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes.
  • Coordinates with functional owners and end users to translate ideas, high level specifications into new or enhanced integration solutions.
  • Responsible for prototyping, designing and developing integration services and web applications.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and provide guidance ensuring all development standards and practices are applied.

·         Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of agile software engineers.

·         Collaborate with cross functional teams such as system engineering, product, UX, QA, Project Management, etc.

·         Application Development

    • Estimating/SOW with estimated hours to code the solution

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems
  • EXPERIENCE:  2-4 years of hands-on development and coding experience; experience with end-to-end enterprise level applications such as front end apps, server and database; architecture, scalability and reliability concepts.
 Skills & Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of .Net Framework(s)
  • Hands-on experience in web services (REST, SOAP, WSDL etc.),

·         Working knowledge of Active and Passive API Integrations

·         Working knowledge of GitHub

  • Web Service integration development experience
  • Knowledge of XML (XSD, XSLT, XPath and XAML) app software
  • Knowledge of development/build tools such as IDE (Visual Studio 10 or above), Source Control (SVN), C# .Net Development, SQL Server or Oracle DB Integration
  • Hands-on experience with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS/
  • Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum or XP), continuous integration and version control.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end enterprise level applications such as front end apps, server and database; architecture, scalability and reliability concepts
  • Ideally, general knowledge of Omnitracs core software offerings
  • Knowledge of SDLC with concentration on development and implementation
  • Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to interact in a virtual environment with external customers and internal groups
  • Ability to break down technical information and present to multiple stakeholders, internal and external, in a clear, concise manner
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects with varying requirements and deadlines
  • Experience working with near shore/offshore teams.
  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Shares knowledge, power, and credit, establishing trust, credibility, and goodwill.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
