SomaLogic is a privately-owned bioinformation company that developed a revolutionary proteomics technology capable of measuring thousands of different human proteins in a single small blood or other type sample. We are a dedicated team of colleagues now moving towards commercializing the health-related information derived from our platform to help people worldwide proactively manage their health. As a part of our commercialization effort, we are seeking additional laboratory research expertise to join our dedicated team and help us realize that vision.

The Analytical Sciences team is seeking a Research Associate to assist in the identification and characterization of SOMAmer® reagents. This position works in a fast-paced, team-oriented research group. The individual will primarily perform sample preparation of protein pulldown samples for LC-MS analysis and also generate new SOMAmer reagents using the SELEX process. Detailed documentation, critical evaluation and communication of results are essential traits for this position. Level will be commensurate with experience.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Run SDS-PAGE gels on large numbers of protein samples in parallel
  • Prepare protein samples for analysis via LC-MS
  • Perform pulldown and binding assays to investigate SOMAmer characteristics
  • Document data, perform experiments and communicate results in a timely manner
  • Assist in the management of protein and SOMAmer inventories
  • Work collaboratively with team members to design experiments and discuss results

Skills & Requirements


BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field from an accredited institution with 2 years of work experience (1 year with MS) in an academic or industrial laboratory research setting

Skills and experience

  • Experience with a variety of biochemical and analytical techniques including, gel electrophoresis, protein purification and protein binding assays
  • Experience with protein digestion, preferred
  • Experience with LC-MS is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office


Work Environment:

Work is in typical office and laboratory environments with personal protective equipment use required in the laboratory.
