Job Description

Overview:  Performs instrumentation & electrical maintenance & repair activities on gas compression and/or process equipment as directed.  Acts as a technical resource for more complex issues in assigned area.

Skills and Abilities: 
Ability to:
- Read and interpret instrumentation and control documentation, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), related ANSI/ISA drawings and National Electric Code requirements
- Perform maintenance & troubleshooting of instruments & systems in assigned area with limited assistance
- Troubleshoot motor controls (energized)
- Perform thruhole & surface mount soldering for electronic assemblies
- Apply electronics math concepts
- Demonstrate knowledge of DC fundamentals & circuits concepts, electrical theory, calculations, circuit & component characteristics, circuit construction,  test/measurements, schematics, & troubleshooting
-  If required in local area:  demonstrate fluid power systems knowledge, fluid power technology, lube systems and/or pneumatic systems with limited help
-  Demonstrate knowledge of industrial data communications & programmable logic controllers with assistance
-  Demonstrate advanced diagnostic and repair skills on multiple types of equipment including compressor packages, gas process and power generation equipment used within the region
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) to standard with no help
- Perform Major Maintenance (MM), Overhauls, and MOB / DEMOB as part of a team
- Read and adjust unit as per performance runs
- Demonstrate customer service skills
- Read, write and speak English (work orders, manuals, etc.)
- Model all health, safety and environmental procedures
- Use computer skills, including vendor specific programs (Cat, Waukesha, Ariel, Murphy, etc.), Internet Explorer and Outlook
- Regularly complete and submit company required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion
- Must be 21 on the date of hire for DOT compliance

Knowledge: 
- Knowledge of MCC & switchgear work
- Knowledge of end devices
- Understanding of system flow
- Understanding of the national electrical code, the structure & logic of the NEC, including the index, annexes, & Article 90
- Awareness of measurement & control and variables that affect automation & PCS
- Knowledge of gas engines & compressors, electrical systems, panel boards, skid wiring, etc., through Compressor 101, equivalent training or performance verification
- Knowledge of some new technologies
- Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures & regulations
- Generally understands all processes & systems on how a compressor works
- Knowledge of company maintenance standards checklist & ability to accurately & completely follow

Minimum Education and Certification: 
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record
- Gas or diesel engine and compressor school / training preferred
 perform Major Maintenance (MM) Overhauls, and MOB / DEMOB as part of a team

Minimum Experience: 
- Typically at least 5 years experience with natural gas engines and compressors, and a working knowledge of production equipment, panels, end devices and electrical circuits & controls
- Demonstrated history of successful and safe service experience

Leadership: 
- Expected to serve as a resource to others for mentoring, knowledge transfer, training and checking work
- May occasionally lead  a crew

- Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance
- Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds
- Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet
- Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
