Job Description

What You Will Do:

As part of the COBOL team in this new role, you’ll be instrumental in supporting and enhancing our System based on Microfocus Cobol, Unix/Linux, XML, JAVA and Oracle. You'll be working in COBOL team enhancing existing programs as well as writing new ones. You also have to understand and work on the JAVA and COBOL interaction using web-services based on XML.

Following will be the responsibilities:

  1. Analyzing the enhancement requirements and support Jira and its impact and corresponding changes.
  2. Estimation of the assigned work.
  3. Design of new applications and enhancements.
  4. Preparing Tech Specs and Test Case document.
  5. Coding, Unit Testing and Integration testing.
  6. Maintaining and enhancing the performance of applications.
  7. Working with Product, QA and other project stakeholders for deliverables.
  8. Giving Demos of the enhancement worked on.

Skills & Requirements

Who You Are:

  • Expert in COBOL programming (Microfocus). The COBOL programming background can be MF or Microfocus.
  • Candidate must have experience of 3 to 6 years working as COBOL developer.
  • Good experience in working with databases, data modeling, and SQL (any type).
  • We develop in an Eclipse environment using Maven and SVN.  Experience with these tools will be advantageous.
  • Well versed with Unix/Linux environment.
  • Basic knowledge of XML and JAVA.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
