Athletic Program Coaches

Job Description

Frankfurt International School is looking for energetic seasonal part-time coaches for its Athletic Program. The Athletic Program offers the following sports: Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Tennis, Rugby, Basketball, Swimming, Track and Field, Softball, Baseball and Golf The program provides FIS student athletes (from Grade 6 - 12) the opportunity to further develop their physical, social, emotional and intellectual potential.

Sports are offered on a three season basis throughout the school year. Practices are held three - four times a week and typically 90 minutes in length. Competitions take place during the week as well as on the weekends. Teams travel throughout the season to various locations primarily within Europe.

All applicants must:

  • Hold a valid work permit for Germany and currently live or plan to relocate to the greater Frankfurt (Rhein-Main) area
  • Possess solid working knowledge of the English language as it is the primary language of instruction
  • Have previous experience coaching
  • Have a passion for sport
  • Possess a strong work ethic

The key responsibilities of the position are:

  1. To coach the team for which responsibility is assumed and all other related responsibilities arising from this.
  2. To develop a sound instructional program in the skills and strategy of the sport for which responsibility is assumed and to ensure that this instructional program is shared and developed with other coaches in the same sport.
  3. To take direct responsibility for the management of all practices and competitions, including the physical set-up and take-down of equipment and leaving the site in such condition that it is ready for the next scheduled activity.
  4. To supervise the conduct of one's own team members, and that of the members of other FIS teams, during the whole period of any competition: all home competitions from the arrival of the visiting team until their departure and for away competitions, from departure from the school until return.
  5. To be aware and concerned about team members' academic progress and any other matter that might affect their athletic performance and general well-being.
  6. To seek to develop in team members attitudes which foster personal growth, development of a strong moral character and ability to perform in a team environment.
  7. To become thoroughly familiar with the rules and regulations pertaining to the sport coached.
  8. To be aware of the rules and guidelines of the International Schools Sports Tournament , Sports Council of International Schools and the policies of the school's Athletic Department, as set forth in the Athletic Handbook and the policies of the Frankfurt International School and, where applicable, the policies of the "DoDEA" Athletic Program and work to implement them.
  9. To bring any infraction of these policies to the immediate attention of the Athletic Director and, where applicable, to the responsible official or officials of other schools.
  10. To take care of all equipment and materials issued by the Athletic Department, and to return the equipment and materials at the end of the season in as good a condition as possible.
  11. To attend pre-season coaches meetings; Meet the Coaches Evening and the Athletic Awards Banquet.
