Allergy Technicians

Charleston ENT & Allergy has an immediate opening for experienced and certified technicians to join our rapidly-growing team. Due to an increasing demand for allergy services, Allergy Technicians are needed to provide critical support to physicians, manage in-office processes, perform skin tests, and administer allergy shots. Customer service is key for this role as this person will be interacting with patients daily and ensuring all allergy needs are met. Because this position is involved in all different aspects of the department, including patient care, administrative duties, and lab responsibilities, this ambitious person will have ample opportunity to shine. It is a unique opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant or EMT to work in both front office and back office capacities within a high-demand specialty.

Allergy Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work up clinic patients for our Allergists
    • Taking patient history, vitals & reconciling medication history
  • Assist with / perform multiple types of testing
    • Skin testing, PCN testing, patch testing, lung function testing, etc.
  • Putting in orders
  • Mix serum for patient’s immunotherapy
  • Administer allergy injections
  • Phlebotomy duties
  • Lab duties
  • Triage patients and assisting physicians with patients and procedures
  • Call in prescriptions
  • Scan patient test results and other information as necessary
  • Contacting insurance companies to pre-certify tests and procedures for Physicians
  • Schedule testing & follow up appointments
  • Float between front and back office responsibilities as needed

 

Skills & Requirements

Candidates must be EMT certified, or CCMA, CMA, or RMA certified for Medical Assisting. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in allergy. Strong attention to detail, computer literacy, math proficiency, being able to work autonomously, and organizational superpowers are required. This person will have an outgoing and friendly personality, a professional image, and the desire to be part of a focused specialty team.
