Logistic Team Lead

Job Description

SUMMARY: Kayem Foods is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Team Lead to support our warehouse and purchasing operations within our food manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for overseeing the receiving team, ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating closely with the Purchasing department. The Logistics Team Lead will guide and support two receivers while helping maintain efficient and compliant logistics processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support a team of two receivers in daily receiving operations
  • Train and guide receivers on processes, documentation, and best practices
  • Work closely with the Purchasing team to coordinate deliveries
  • Prioritize shipment unloading when critical for Scheduling and operations; monitor rush deliveries
  • Ensure all incoming shipments are properly inspected and documented; report any shortages or damages
  • Verify that all receiving and logistics documentation is completed accurately and on time; resolve any receiving discrepancies with Purchasing
  • Maintain accurate receiving records and perform office support to finalize receiving paperwork
  • Drive first article inspection to ensure specification compliance for received materials
  • Ensure that carrier pickups for dry goods or returns are completed
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory tracking, cycle counts, and reporting
  • Monitor inventory levels, report inconsistencies, and maintain proper stock rotation
  • Help maintain organized storage areas and proper product handling procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and warehouse procedures
  • Assist with continuous improvement of logistics and inventory processes
Skills & Requirements

 SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Previous leadership or team lead experience preferred
  • Experience in food manufacturing or a regulated environment is a plus
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commissions, ratios, proportions, and percentages
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with purchasing and operations teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Teams and Outlook
  • Experience with inventory, warehouse management systems, or ERP systems (Microsoft AX a plus)

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two to four years of related* experience or combination of equivalent education and experience.  

(*2–4 years of experience in logistics, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management)

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed in both an office setting with standard equipment such as computers, and phones where the noise level is generally quiet to moderately loud and also in storage areas and the manufacturing plant and is exposed to refrigerated (35-40 degrees) and wet conditions.   The noise level in the plant is usually loud.

The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay Range

The base pay range for this role is $20.00 - 30.00 USD/Hourly 

The listed salary range represents Kayem Foods’ good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire pay ranges.

Ranges are reviewed on a regular basis. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued wage growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and is eligible for an annual wage review.  Kayem Foods complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
