The Role
This role collaborates with the Director of Cloud Ops in creating and reviewing strategic plans for the continuous development of practices related to creating reliable, scalable, and cost-effective systems that meet corporate and client standards. They will lead the Cloud team in reducing costs while also increasing security, reliability, and capability. As a skilled engineer and leader, this role is responsible for guiding the developmental work practices, professional growth, and project goal achievement for the Cloud team.
Job Duties:
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to team on a day to day basis
- Establish operational objectives and work plans to determine expectations for goal attainment
- Lead team in implementing and carrying out strategic plans
- Delegate assignments to subordinate leadership team to achieve objectives
- Suggest and develop departmental policies to the Director/VP of Cloud
- Determine resource utilization to meet schedules and goals, including planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expense priorities
- Provide performance feedback and conduct formal performance appraisals
- Provide support to employees in the establishment and achievement of goals
- Remove barriers, advocate for employees, identify performance improvement opportunities, and promote professional development
- Proactively establish and manage succession planning/professional development plans
- Ensure team compliance for all policy and procedure related information
- Recognize employee relations issue and provide guidance for resolution
- Participates in an on-call rotation in support of 24/7 production system
