JOB DESCRIPTION 

As a Senior Business Analyst within our Project Management Office (PMO) team, you'll hold a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating new ideas influencing our strategic technology portfolio. Your primary focus will involve collaborating with project sponsors, stakeholders, and technical teams to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives. Operating within the PMO framework, you'll assist in standardization efforts through documentation, training, and assessing organizational effectiveness. Your proactive approach and sense of urgency will be critical in overcoming challenges and driving initiatives forward. 

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:  

  • Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following: 

  • Lead business analysis efforts and manage the PMO governance framework for complex technical projects, encompassing idea collection, elaboration, approval and prioritization. 

  • Collaborate closely with project sponsors and cross-functional stakeholders. Investigate and collect a thorough understanding of project objectives, discovery needs, dependencies, value/ROI and risks and certify alignment with overarching strategic goals. 

  • Conduct analysis and validation of business and technical requirements ensuring business value and project objectives are met. 

  • Generate high-quality deliverables, including comprehensive documentation, reports, and presentations. 

  • Partner with Program and Project managers during quarterly planning activities and validate accurate information is expressed to dependent teams. 

  • Build strong relationships across all organizational levels to comprehend business challenges and opportunities effectively. 

  • Responsible for reviewing current processes and developing frameworks aligned with business strategy and objectives to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are realized.  

  • Create and maintain relevant analysis and reports based on portfolio, program and project KPIs. 

  • Manage centralized knowledge base of project documents, PMO/BA tools, templates, and processes to streamline and share within the organization in order to promote successful project outcomes.  

  • Strong grasp of industry trends, PMO and BA best practices, and emerging technologies and processes related to business analysis and software development. 

  • Maintain a detail-oriented mindset and sense of urgency while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines. 

  • Facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing among project team members and stakeholders. 

  • Mature the role of the BA and set goals for the role with PMO leadership support. 

Skills & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

 
  • Insurance software experience 

  • MS Office Applications 

  • Working knowledge of backend development systems 

  • Agile development methodologies 

 

 

Qualifications (Requirements):  

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience 

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a software development or IT environment.  

  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall. 

  • Proven experience leading complex business analysis initiatives and driving successful project outcomes. 

  • Solid expertise in requirement gathering techniques, documentation standards, and business analysis tools. 

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented mindset. 

  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. 

 

 

Qualifications (Nice to Haves):  

 
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar certification. 

  • Experience with industry-specific software or tools used in business analysis. 

  • Knowledge of insurance industry-specific standards and regulations 

  • Experience in facilitating workshops and conducting user interviews. 

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., PMBOK).

  • Travel required up to 10% of the time. 

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.  

  • Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.  

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.).

The Professional Services (PS) and Customer Success (CX) bonus plans are a quarterly monetary bonus plan based upon individual and practice performance against specific business metrics.  Eligibility is determined by several factors including: start date, good standing in the company, and actives status at time of payout.

The Vertafore Incentive Plan (VIP) is an annual monetary bonus for eligible employees based on both individual and company performance.  Eligibility is determined by several factors including: start date, good standing in the company, and actives status at time of payout.

Commission plans are tailored to each sales role but common components include quota, MBO's and ABPMs.  Salespeople receive their formal compensation plan within 30 days of hire.
