Marketo is looking for a Sr. Director, Site Reliability Engineering. 

This role sits in our San Mateo office and reports to the Global Head of Technology and Cloud Operations.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Global resource management of the team driving the organizational transformation from traditional data center infrastructure and application environment to a Cloud based operating model (AWS, Azure, etc).
  • Achieving Customer and Business expectation on application and content availability.
  • Manage operating expenses to plan and ensure accurate and detail expense reporting.  Provide application and feature level cost reporting.
  • Partner with Technology Platform leadership to jointly ensure compliance with integrated cloud platform services model.
  • Partner with Technology leadership to achieve year over year strategic and operational commitments.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with development and architecture teams to establish appropriate redundancy and high availability technologies ensuring adequate service levels to all critical applications.
  • Drives complex technology and process decisions based on the alignment of customer needs, costs, risks, and value proposition. 
  • Maintains external vendor relationships and collaborates on contract terms with internal Technology Sourcing team. 

 Responsibility for Work of Others:

  • Directs the performance and development efforts of direct reports (Manager and Director) and is responsible for an overall staff of 50+ technology professionals achieving transformation to a cloud operating model.
  • Works with team members to define career development plans and ensures the resources are available for them to progress according to the plan.
  • Conducts performance reviews, recommends candidates for promotion and manages performance improvement plans as necessary. 
  • This position has significant financial management responsibilities and oversees multiple cost centers. Creates, reviews, and manages annual budgets, including re-forecasting annual spend at least twice per year and reporting monthly variances.  

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Business or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 15+ years of IT operations experience, at least 10 years of which is in a management capacity.  3+ years of demonstrated results managing cloud transformation from a traditional data center environment.
  • Strong application technology and infrastructure knowledge and experience. 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills (written and verbal), along with knowledge in work flow, search and content management.
  • Strong bias toward customer service and continually improving customer experience and costs.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships with and influence all levels within an organization, most importantly at the senior executive level.
  • Results orientation with proven ability to mobilize and energize large, complex cross-functional teams to implement creative out of the box solutions.
  • Strong expertise in project management skills, with proven ability to work with competing resources, budget limitations, and. strong conflict management skills
  • Proven ability to manage large, unstructured issues, organizing them into solvable, prioritized projects designed to meet over-arching goals across the organization while leading multiple large, complex projects; and working directly with customers.
  • Ability to present information in a variety of different formats and influences all levels of the organization, including senior executives. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop individuals to their optimal potential
  • Global travel is required for this position to build and maintain relationships and address critical support needs.
