Job Duties & Responsibilities 

• Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases across various environments (development, testing, production). This includes managing replication (streaming, logical), backups, and recovery procedures. 

• Analyze and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and server configuration tuning to ensure high throughput and low latency. 

• Design, implement, and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to ensure continuous database operation and data integrity. 

• Implement and enforce database security policies, manage user permissions, and ensure compliance with relevant data security standards. 

• Work closely with development, DevOps, and other engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize database solutions for applications. Provide support and guidance on database-related issues. 

• Develop and utilize scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine database tasks, improve efficiency, and streamline operations. 

• Implement and manage database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance or availability issues. 

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database environments, standards, and procedures.  

• Plan for future storage requirements and database growth, and design scalable database architectures. 

Knowledge & Qualifications 

• Extensive experience as a DBA, with a 6+ years focus on PostgreSQL. 

• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, features, and best practices. 

• Proficiency in SQL and experience with complex query optimization. 

• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance analysis. 

• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery techniques. 

• Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, AWX) for automation. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

• Experience with MSSQL is required.  

• Experience with MongoDB or other document databases is beneficial.
