Overview of the role:

WorkTango is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Temporary - Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You'll be actively involved in the full accounting cycle, managing key processes from accounts receivable and payable to general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and supporting our month-end close. The awesome stuff you’ll do in this role:

  • Manage the entire Accounts Payable process, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments.

  • Assist with the Accounts Receivable cycle, including precise invoicing and accurate cash receipts processing.

  • Record and reconcile daily cash receipts for all bank accounts. 

  • Prepare and post required monthly journal entries with attention to detail.

  • Prepare and post intercompany transactions and perform monthly intercompany reconciliation. 

  • Perform month end reconciliations, demonstrating a strong ability to spot errors, reconcile discrepancies, and investigate variances.

  • Assist and provide support for annual external audits and various tax compliance requirements.

  • Adhere to all internal controls and accounting policies.

  • Utilize strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas) for data analysis and reporting.

  • Work effectively both independently and as a reliable member of a collaborative team, interacting with multiple departments (e.g., finance, HR, and Operations).

  • Be accountable for agreed-upon deliverables and timelines.

  • Suggest and contribute to the implementation of improvements to accounting processes.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), general ledger accounts, and core business processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).

  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP systems is a significant plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial information clearly.

  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • High level of initiative, a proactive approach, and a strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

  • CPA certification or actively studying for the CPA exam is a plus but not required.
