OVERVIEW:
Since 1946 Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) has delivered the VCS benefits to millions of Veterans enrolled in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Healthcare system, the largest Healthcare system in the United States. VCS is a program office in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) that is Veteran facing, providing reasonably priced goods and services for the comfort and well-being of America’s Veterans.
The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS), Central Office, located on the Jefferson Barracks VAMC campus in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Program Support Assistant. This candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Business-to-Business sector within the Services Division while managing collaboration with clients, maintaining efficient communication, and ensuring smooth coordination of B2B processes. This position will work under the supervision of the Chief Services Officer.
DUTIES:
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assists in development, coordination, and implementation of B2B initiatives aimed at improving Veterans services and fostering partnerships with external organizations.
- Oversees vendor relationships and manages supplier contracts while evaluating price, quality, service, reliability.
- Responsible for identifying and maximizing opportunities with internal VA entities and act as the primary point of contact to address inquiries and provide timely assistance.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department to source compelling product for various customers.
- Mange program related documentation, maintain data bases, and ensure the time processing of reports, invoices, and other essential records.
- Ensure compliance with government funds, promotional funds, and incentive awards.
- Oversees the Order Management System, ensuring accurate entry of UPCs, vendor information, product descriptions, and cost and selling prices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Systems knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe is a plus.
- Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to use good judgment and be flexible in situations without written guidance.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and shift priorities as necessary.
- Must be able to work in a team as well as independently.
- Possess strong analytical skills to diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems and find effective solutions.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaccination programs are requirements for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment. It is a requirement that all HCP receive the COVID-19 vaccination and annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons.
