JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction, the Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA performs the more basic and routine tasks related to the care of residents in a long term care facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS of the Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA:
- Assists residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding and ambulation.
- Records oral intake and urinary output; takes and records TPR, obtains specimens, and weighs residents. Reports TPR deviations from normal to nurse.
- Observes and reports changes in residents physical, mental, emotional, behavioral and social well-being.
Orients residents to environment and monitors activities.
- Keeps residents and general areas clean and orderly and prepares bedside units with equipment and supplies for new admissions. Makes beds with fresh linen on shower day and as needed.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards; promote adherence to Resident Bill of Rights.
OTHER JOB DUTIES of the Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA:
- Attends required inservice training. (12 hours per year)
- Does related work as required.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of prior experience as a Nurse aide is preferred.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS of the Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the job.
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
- Possession of a valid NJ Nurse Aide Certification as required by the NJDOHSS.
- Completion of Module II, and ADL education of Module IV of C.N.A. Training course.
