Mission Statement
The Middlesex County Improvement Authority was created by Resolution of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Middlesex adopted on September 6, 1990.  In creating the Authority, the Board of Chosen Freeholders provided an entity, which could assist various governmental and community entities in a variety of ways.

The Authority’s objective is to support the County and the municipalities and other entities within the County, providing financial and management assistance.  The Authority strives to improve the quality of life for the residents of Middlesex County.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction, is responsible for planning, promotion, development and supervision of a facility wide recreation program specifically designed to meet facility goals and regulatory guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises, trains, evaluates and advises recreation in designing and administering a variety of recreation programs to groups and individual residents.
  • Liaisons with nursing, social work, PT, OT, Personnel and other staff to assure an appropriate program is provided to each resident.
  • Participates in the selection and supervises the training and orientation of Volunteers.
  • Maintains harmonious working relationships with residents, their families and guests and outside agencies.
  • Assures that each resident's care plan is followed and documented.
  • Liaisons and coordinates the Chaplaincy Program that provides spiritual guidance and religious services for the residents.
  • Plans, organizes, staffs and executes special resident trips or events.

 

OTHER JOB DUTIES:

  •  Attends required inservice and other training and development programs.
  • Does related work as required.

 

Skills & Requirements

BASIC COMPETENCIES EDUCATION:

Graduation from a College or University of recognized standing with a major course of study in Recreation or a related field, and holds current certification from NCCAP or NCTRC, including or supplemented by training or experience in Recreation Therapy work.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the job.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Four years of paid job in a Recreation Therapy Program in a long term care facility; two years of which shall have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
