Mission Statement
The Middlesex County Improvement Authority was created by Resolution of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Middlesex adopted on September 6, 1990.  In creating the Authority, the Board of Chosen Freeholders provided an entity, which could assist various governmental and community entities in a variety of ways.

The Authority’s objective is to support the County and the municipalities and other entities within the County, providing financial and management assistance.  The Authority strives to improve the quality of life for the residents of Middlesex County.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the clinical and administrative functions of the Nursing Department and serves as the liaison between the Nursing Department and the other departments in the facility for all clinical and non-clinical aspects of resident care. In the absence of the DON, serves as DON designee.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assists in planning and developing policies and procedures for the Infection Control Program.

 

Periodically inspects, evaluates, documents the prevention and infection control procedures related to the animate and inanimate environmental facility wide and, on the basis of findings, makes appropriate changes to assure elimination of hazards which would impact on infection and risk potential.

 

Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives in conjunction with the Nursing Management Team.

 

Provides staff assistance in budget preparation.

 

Reviews and revises position control of each unit within the department and collaborates with the DON when corrective action is indicated.

 

Oversees and provides assistance to supervisors, nurse managers, nurses and clinical specialist.

 

Serves as a resource to nursing staff for clinical and administrative matters; conducts staff meetings.

 

Facilitates quarterly and annual Infection Control meetings.

 

Applies and teaches principles of Infection Control and provides annual staff updates.

 

Interviews and approves applicants for employment or transfer.

 

Reviews and/or evaluates employee performance on a supervisory level.

 

Conducts staff meetings.

 

Develops strategies to solve clinical and administrative issues and problems on the nursing units.

 

OTHER JOB DUTIES:

Attends and participates in inservice training programs as well professional conferences and seminars and maintains currency with developments in the field.

 

Does related work as required.

 

BASIC COMPETENCIES EDUCATION:

BS in Nursing from an accredited institution. (Masters Degree is preferred.)

Current NJ licensure as an RN.

APIC Certification.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the job.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Seven years of experience in a clinical nursing setting with at least three years in a supervisory capacity
