ROLE:  CROWDS LEAD
REPORTING TO:  VFX SUPERVISOR

 

SUMMARY OF COMPANY

As part of Hasbro Entertainment, Boulder Media is building a new feature animation division. We are excited to offer a talented Crowds Lead the opportunity to join our very successful and established animation studio as we expand into a new area. We will be producing the first CG theatrical feature film made entirely in Ireland. The movie is based on a very well-known Hasbro property and we can’t wait to bring it to the big screen for the first time.

 

ROLE SUMMARY

The crowd TD is responsible for helping to implement crowd characters and animation within our feature film and pipeline. Working closely with the layout, animation and asset departments they will help implement workflows to fulfil the directors vision.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Instructing and overseeing the requirements of the crowd software implementation within both the context of the crowd assets and animation. This will require working with modelling, groom and rigging departments to ensure that assets are compatible with the software and can be both animated and rendered successfully.
  • Giving appropriate departments technical directors instructions on how to implement required workflows in the form of tool briefs or requirements so artists can deliver both assets and animations successfully.
  • Managing, along with animation a small team of crowd animators to supply motion clips required to supply the crowds animation.
  • Working with directors and stakeholders to refine the crowd assets, animation and delivery on screen into visually amazing results.
Skills & Requirements

 

  • Have experience with both using and implementing crowds within a CG animation pipeline. Either through Golaem, Atoms Crowds or Massive systems.
  • Be familiar with rigging and animation techniques and their application within crowd animation software.
  • Be comfortable working within a team and due to the wide span of crowds across departments, be confident in forming working relationships with invested supervisors and staff.
  • Have technical experience and be comfortable refactoring this into tool and functionality requests with Pipeline and Department TDs
  • Have experience or knowledge of Python, Maya, xGen and other industry standard softwares and techniques
