Regional Sales Manager – Grocery Emerging

JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Sales Manager position is responsible for all aspects of the sales function relative to the Grocery channel with National Deep Discounters, East Coast Natural Channel and Ecommerce. This position is responsible for maintaining an existing customer base of retailers, as well as identifying and growing new accounts. This role will support customers both with a broker and direct + works closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders – Sales Finance, Shopper Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service.  To be successful in this role, the incumbent will need to be able to quickly identify white space distribution opportunities and deploy strategic selling stories to secure that business. 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Maintain strong relationships through systemic contact with existing customer base of wholesalers, distributors, and retailers.
  • Seek out and generate new accounts to grow sales volumes and profits.
  • Oversee Sales Operating Plan to meet or exceed targeted sales numbers.
  • Partner with Shopper Marketing to create best “Go to Market” strategies for in-store execution
  • Communicate effectively across functions (Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, etc.)
  • Partner with innovation and marketing teams on new product development with the goal of increasing sales.
  • Manage administrative duties such as reporting, monitoring trade spending, forecasting, budgeting, travel and expenses.
  • Participate in industry specific associations, trade shows, and customer events.

WORK EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5+ years sales experience in the consumer-packaged goods or food and beverage industry
  • Proven track record of success growing sales and developing new customers
  • Experience with Aldi, Lidl and Amazon preferred
  • Natural Foods experience is a plus
  • Experience with Broker managed accounts is a plus
  • Dairy experience is a plus

SKILLS / OTHER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Negotiation skills, conflict resolution, and the ability to influence
  • Strong organizational and self-structure skills required
  • Ability to be effective in a results driven, entrepreneurial, fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and decision-making ability
  • Ability to be self-sufficient and take initiative for new opportunities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Category management/Strategic selling story creation skills a plus

 

FORMAL EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a home-based position that with location flexibility, with preference for the Central US
  • Travel 30 - 40%.
  • The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is necessary.
  • Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending on the project or assignment.
