MINDBODY is looking for a Competitive Intelligence Intern to join a creative and collaborative team of market researchers product marketers who are helping to shape the best possible experiences for MINDBODY’s existing and future customers.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Competitive Intelligence (CI) Internship is a part-time position expected to take place over a 6-month period to support the academic growth of a student interested in the Competitive Intelligence and Market Research field. The Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience in CI best practices and processes – including the use of secondary and primary research methodologies. The Intern will work remotely for 20-25 hrs/ per week on a set (but flexible) schedule.
 
As a Competitive Intelligence Intern, you will support the Market Insights team in gathering, analyzing, assessing and synthesizing information from numerous sources about the fitness, salon / spa and wellness industry both in the US and internationally to deliver insights and a point of view on impact to MINDBODY.
  • You will source, monitor, and curate information about competitors, customers, and markets to stay on top of industry news and trends and competitor pricing
  • You should be comfortable working with disparate information sources both qualitative and quantitative (financial & statistical) and be able to communicate (written and verbal) concise summaries along with a point of view
  • You should be passionate about technology, the wellness industry and enjoy collaborating with others, and be committed to continuously learning and evolving
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently enrolled as either a:
oFirst year MBA student or
oThird year or (early term) forth year college student and earning a degree in business administration, economics, market research or related degree
  • Strong critical thinking and communications skills
  • Prior experience with competitive research and / or market research, product research, SWOT analysis, and / or developing “battle cards” is highly desirable
  • Experience with qualitative industry research and / or secondary research is highly desirable
  • Experience and understanding of SaaS and the Wellness industry is highly desirable
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
  • This position is mostly stationary and will be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
