Job Description

ABOUT US

HirexHire (pronounced hire by hire) is a Chicago-based recruiting and talent consultancy that integrates with companies short-term to provide long-term talent solutions. We take a seat in our client’s everyday operations to understand their people's goals, gaps, and challenges. We then develop and implement processes and technologies to execute a sustainable, scalable talent plan.

We partner with companies expecting or experiencing high growth who need to hire at scale or fill a critical role rapidly. Our clients are not looking for quick-fix placements but are thoughtfully building a hiring strategy to scale their businesses.

OUR CLIENT

Location: Ohio / Hybrid

Industry: Fleet Management Software/EV Infrastructure

Company Size: 20-50+

What They Do: Our client is a fast-growing SaaS company transforming how organizations manage electric and mixed-vehicle fleets. Their platform centralizes fleet operations, bringing together vehicle tracking, charging optimization, maintenance workflows, and real-time analytics into a single, easy-to-use system. Serving logistics providers, municipalities, and enterprise operators, our client enables teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and accelerate their transition to sustainable transportation. With strong early traction and increasing market demand, they are scaling their team to support continued product innovation and go-to-market growth.

THE ROLE

The Integration Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical front door for our client's partner integrations, validating APIs, identifying feasibility gaps, and ensuring integration work is fully de-risked before entering engineering. This role will work closely with Product, Engineering, external technology partners, and Tier II Support to validate API capabilities, troubleshoot integration issues, and translate technical findings into clear product and implementation requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong API and integration experience, a product-minded approach, and the ability to confidently drive external partners toward resolution.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own the technical relationship with integration partners, including technical calls, support channels, credentials, documentation, and partner-side blockers.

  • Perform hands-on API discovery and validation using tools such as Postman or curl, testing authentication, pagination, throttling, webhooks, error handling, and sandbox environments.

  • Confirm that partner APIs can support product requirements before integrations are committed to an engineering sprint, identifying gaps and proposing viable alternatives when needed.

  • Create integration briefs and working Postman collections documenting authentication, endpoints, field mappings, sample payloads, known behaviors, and outstanding questions.

  • Serve as the primary technical counterpart to Product for integration work, helping shape technically accurate requirements, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and roadmap sequencing.

  • Support Engineering during implementation as the integration subject matter expert, answering technical questions and coordinating directly with partners when additional information or resolution is needed.

  • Partner with Tier II Support to reproduce and triage integration issues, determining whether problems are related to configuration, data, partner systems, or application code.

  • Maintain internal documentation and reusable integration knowledge across areas such as HRIS/payroll, TMS, telematics, LMS, and job boards.

  • Monitor partner API changes, deprecations, and undocumented behaviors and communicate potential impacts to Product and Engineering.

  • Own the integration discovery process to ensure each integration has validated authentication, confirmed capabilities, and the necessary technical documentation before development begins.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 3+ years of experience in integration engineering, solutions engineering, sales engineering, technical consulting, or a similar technical role.

  • Strong understanding of REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, GraphQL, webhooks, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2, SAML, or OIDC.

  • Hands-on experience using Postman, curl, or similar tools to explore, test, and validate APIs.

  • Ability to read and understand code in Python, JavaScript, or a similar language, with production software development experience not required.

  • Strong troubleshooting and technical triage skills, with the ability to identify whether an issue originates from configuration, data, a partner system, or application code.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex technical findings into clear documentation and actionable recommendations.

  • Product-minded approach with the ability to evaluate technical limitations in the context of customer needs and identify practical alternatives.

  • Confidence working directly with external technology partners, including vendors with incomplete, changing, or inconsistent API documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple integrations, partner relationships, and technical priorities at once.

  • Experience with Python, transportation technology, HRIS/payroll, TMS, telematics, or other regulated-industry integrations is a plus.
