Job Description

Description/Job Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Janitorial Services Manager for a complete facility maintenance program to support a federal Agency.

The Janitorial Service Manager is responsible for managing the janitorial program and setting and adjusting the work schedules of all personnel to ensure the operation is within the Scope of Work (SOW). The Janitorial Service Manager shall ensure all work performed by the team is accomplished following guidelines as specified within the contract. This includes but is not limited to work performed by the Facilities staff, as well as subcontractors hired by the contractor.

  • Coordinate, schedule, and supervise janitorial day, evening, and weekend shift staff members and fill in as needed.
  • Verifies and performs quality assurance checks and manages the cleaning inventory.
  • Coordinate and initiate Purchase Orders for paper and chemical products as needed.
  • Supervise proper carpet cleaning, steam spot cleaning, garbage removal, recycling, floor stripping, waxing, and overall cleanliness of the facilities.
  • Maintain daily turnover log for continuity of services across shifts.
  • Manage janitorial staff to ensure performance standards are met and meet the contract requirements.
  • Shall possess at least 3 years of experience in the management and supervision of commercial and institutional janitorial services.
  • Ability to read and follow cleaning supply instructions/restrictions
  • The ability to support night and weekend operations as needed.
  • Have the capability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Excellent customer service

The position is an ON-SITE position and will require being in North Charleston daily.

Skills & Requirements

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Shall possess at least 3 years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in the management and supervision of commercial and institutional janitorial services of the approximate size and characteristics of the FLETC Complex.
  • Specific experience in setting up and managing a variety of services including laundry, and housekeeping services is mandatory.
  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communications in English (e) Shall have basic computer skills including the ability to input data into the system and generate various reports and correspondence as required. Shall have proficiency in oral and written communication in English.

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to successfully pass government background investigation/clearance.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Five (5) years of Federal quality management experience serving in a federal campus-style setting including food services, janitorial, industrial operations, and maintenance. Familiar with applicable codes and regulatory requirements, Federal, State, and Local code requirements for cleaning solutions and green cleaning products.

Required Education:

  • GED or High School Diploma
