Job Description

Description/Job Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Dormitory Manager for a complete facility maintenance program to support a federal Agency. The Dormitory Manager works under the general supervision of the Executive Director in the day-to-day supervision, support, health, and welfare of students living in the dormitory. The Dormitory Manager manages the day-to-day, 24-hour operation of the dormitory to ensure a safe and holistic home living program for each student. 

  • Shall possess at least 3 years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in the management and supervision of commercial and institutional housekeeping and guest services of the approximate size and characteristics of the FLETC Complex. 
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors of the dormitory. 
  • Oversees common home living duties.
  • Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a like employment.

The position is an ON-SITE position and will require being at various locations in North Charleston occasionally.

Skills & Requirements

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Specific experience in setting up and managing a variety of services including room assignment, laundry, and housekeeping services is mandatory.
  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Understand detailed orders, instructions, and training materials.
  • Ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress.
  • Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a like employment.
  • Shall not have a criminal record.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal.
  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Ability to meet and deal with the public.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Possess valid up-to-date Red Cross First Aid and CPR Defibrillator training certificates.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute with 95% accuracy.

Required Education:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have 2 years’ experience demonstrating the following:
