Job Description

Description/Job Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for Operations & Maintenance Manager responsible for the coordination and completion of preventive and predictive maintenance. Oversees all aspects of MEP, VTE and Fire Life Safety projects, maintenance and compliance. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of team performance. Coordinates directly with all subcontractors, vendors and 3rd party inspection agencies as required.

Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project.  Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Must be available at all times (including after hours) due to the critical nature of the business and building infrastructure being supports. Role requires ability to be mobile and navigate multiple flights of stairs, tight spaces and long distances on foot. Building equipment that this role is ultimately responsible for is anywhere between the roof and the lowest levels of the building below grade.

Skills & Requirements

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Shall have at minimum seven (7) years’ experience in building maintenance operations in Federal owned facilities and possess a DC First class operator’s license. Shall be experienced in the administration, scheduling, and coordination of a work force for maintenance of a government building. Employees responsible for performing/approving such work must possess up-to-date licenses and certifications as required by the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in hands-on installations of Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and Sprinkler
  • Boilers/Steam
  • Water Treatment
  • BAS/BMS Controls
  • Elevator Operations
  • Wet & Dry Fire Suppression Systems
  • Generator/ATS/UPS – Critical Power
