Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for an Project/General Engineer to provide technical engineering/architectural support and full project management support for a variety of projects from initial concept planning, development of full biddable engineering design and construction packages ready for contract procurement and technical administrative support of the project through to completion and closeout.

Periodic travel may be required.

Skills & Requirements

Required Experience & Skills

  • Must possess seven (7) years of technical experience managing and developing facilities/site designs (electrical, mechanical, civil and structural/architectural) for new construction and/or renovation projects to existing facilities/structures.
  • Performing technical site assessments and providing engineering recommendations for design/construction solutions
  • Developing biddable Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • Developing Independent Government Estimates (IGE);
  • Providing technical support to contracting during the Bid phase
  • Reviewing project submittals to meet applicable requirements, specifications, technical criteria/codes
  • Desired engineering experience includes work performed on agricultural research facilities and laboratories.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Preferred construction experience with the following project types: Road Repairs, Security Gate Updates, Roof Replacements, Security Retrofits, Chiller Replacement, HVAC Repairs, Renovate Headhouse, Renovate Labs, MEP projects, Whole Building Renovations, New buildings and structures, Storefront Replacement
  • Preferred Design/Investigative Studies:
  • Design/Investigative Studies, Initial Study for Building Demolition, Building Envelope Repairs, Electrical and Generator Study, Seed Storage System Study, HVAC Repairs
  • Location Support Requiring Development of Statements of Work and Independent Government Estimates:
  • Roof Repairs, Greenhouse Repairs, General system repairs, General HVAC repairs
  • Experience with government acquisition process/requirements a plus

Required Education

  • Shall possess a degree from an ABET accredited engineering college with a minimum of seven (7) years professional engineering project management experience working on design and construction projects.

Preferred Education

  • Shall possess a degree from an ABET accredited engineering college with a minimum of seven (7) years professional engineering project management experience working on design and construction projects.
  • PE Certification
  • PMP Certification
