The part-time Constructability Review Specialist provides expert-level support in reviewing and validating project scopes, drawings, and construction packages for Deferred Maintenance and Repair (DMR) and recapitalization projects within the federal sector. This role ensures that proposed repairs and upgrades are technically sound, cost-effective, and constructible. The specialist will evaluate facility condition assessment findings, troubleshoot equipment, and analyze system performance to inform repair and replacement decisions. The position requires approximately 50 hours of support per year, delivered virtually, with occasional site visits to validate project conditions.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to review designs and scopes of work for constructability, compliance, and technical adequacy.
- Experience validating proposed repairs, assessing system condition, and projecting remaining service life of equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide clear technical recommendations.
- Skilled in preparing technical reports, reviews, and presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Prior experience supporting Federal projects, particularly in DMR and engineering programs.
- Familiarity with deferred maintenance and repair (DMR) project development and Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) processes.
- Experience coordinating with project managers, engineers, and construction teams on scope validation and design reviews.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Preferred Education
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced degree in engineering, construction management, or facilities-related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate.
