Job Description

The Deferred Maintenance & Repair (DMR) Engineer provides full-time engineering support for federal planning, design, and execution of deferred maintenance and recapitalization projects. Typical projects range from $100K to $5M and involve a wide variety of building systems, including roofing, mechanical, electrical, and site work. The DMR Engineer is responsible for analyzing BUILDER SMS data, validating project needs with facility staff, and developing scopes of work, estimates, and schedules for execution. This role also supports the overall management of federal DMR programs, including policy updates, budget submissions, and facility condition assessments.

 

 

Skills & Requirements

Required Experience & Skills

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering project development or facilities management.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting federal projects/programs related to facility planning and design.
  • Skilled in developing project packages including scopes of work, cost estimates, justifications, and schedules.
  • Experience with budget identification, cost quantification, and DMR funding submissions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
  • Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.

 

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Familiarity with Builder SMS and facility condition assessment programs.
  • Experience coordinating with Federal stakeholders and managing program-level engineering tasks.
  • Knowledge of construction codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture.

 

Preferred Education

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP.
